work: #121 | category: Poster

DAYS, I See What I Saw And What I Will See explore les notions de production d'une représentation continue de l'espace et de représentation discontinu du temps - en même temps.

The poster (180x120 cm) printed on matte paper shows a frame of the last scene of the movie DAYS and a text describes the system allowing its realization. The poster has been exhibited for the first time at the Sharjah Biennale in 2011 coupled with the travelling line installed in the city ; these were the only elements of DAYS, I See What I Saw And What I Will See displayed for the Biennial.

About the movie
DAYS, I See what I Saw and what I will See explores the notion of producing a continuous representation of space and a discontinuous representation of time – at the same time. The film was shot over 11 days from 24th of February to 6th of March 2011 in the China Labour Camp in Sajaa, Sharjah. Melik Ohanian built 100 metres of tracks to make travelling shots. He installed the tracks through the course of the day, and then filmed 100 metres in approximately 4 minutes. The next day, he dismantled the tracks, re-assembled them, moved 100 metres ahead, and filmed again. He did this for 11 consecutive days shooting both during the day and at night. The incremental editing of the daily recordings produced two singular 'plan séquences' representing 1100 metres of space and 41 minutes of time. The two versions – a day version and a night version – will be projected at the same time, on two sides of the same screen built specially for the space of exhibition.
